WEG demonstrates energy efficient technology at EMEX

WEG 171022

Motor and drive manufacturer, WEG will showcase new technology systems and services related to energy, environment, sustainability and climate action at EMEX 2022, booth E14

WEG will be showing the new CFW900 variable speed drive (VSD) and its Motion Fleet Management (MFM) asset monitoring tool.

The event has more than 130 exhibitors and 50 seminars across four topical theatres – energy and carbon management strategy, sustainability and net zero, built environment and transport and energy future and flexible networks. The immersive two-day event is the perfect meeting place for innovative professionals to discuss the latest energy efficiency strategies — this includes important regulatory changes such as the 2019/1781 ecodesign regulation for motors and drives.

As part of the European Union’s goals for sustainability and efficiency, regulation 2019/1781 was updated in July 2021. This regulation requires electric motors and VSDs to achieve mandatory Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS). The second stage of the legislation updates is set to commence on July 1, 2023 and will further expand the scope of the regulatory changes.

“By upgrading their motors and drives now, buyers can not only make their operation more sustainable ahead of the tightening regulatory landscape, but also reap the long-term financial benefits of the increased efficiency,” explained Marek Lukaszczyk, European and Middle East marketing manager at WEG.

At the exhibition, WEG will be showing the CFW900, a compact VSD for ease of installation inside electrical panels.

We designed the CFW900 with greater energy efficiency in mind and we’ll continue to look one step beyond regulatory changes when bringing new products to market,” continued Lukaszczyk.

The CFW900 also has a built-in feature — making it easier to implement WEG’s MFM system, a digital tool which allows for online monitoring and maintenance management of the industrial fleet. With MFM, it is possible to see the operational status of a range of industrial assets used in any type of installation. Data collection and advanced processing offer valuable insights that can be used to conduct predictive maintenance. Ultimately this increases availability and reduces total cost of ownership (TCO).

Digital technologies are crucial to minimise energy consumption and help manufacturers make the most of their assets, while reducing their environmental footprint. WEG’s goal is to help plant managers improve their plant efficiency and better manage maintenance through digital solutions.
