Ron is a skilled architectural designer and a seasoned ‘hands-on’ builder. This rare combination of specialist knowledge and practical expertise, together with decades of industry experience, gives him a thorough insight into all the processes involved - from conceptual design, through to practical applications and testing. Ron's experience and expertise led him to develop and patent a practical ‘Passivhaus-certified’ system for new builds and an innovative solution for deep retrofits called the ‘TCosy’ (which has been used to achieve the EnerPHit standard). To date, the Beattie Passive system has been used to build over 450 properties to Passivhaus standards of energy efficiency, comfort and quality. Beattie Passive recently completed its largest and most ambitious project to date: a Passivhaus Plus certified relocatable modular housing scheme for the homeless, built on the site of a former gasworks for Cardiff Council. The development is net zero in operation.
