In 2020, 8 years into my amazing journey at DPD UK working in our Network as a Depot General Manager I grabbed the opportunity of a lifetime to become Head of Sustainability, and lead our strategy to become the UK's leader in sustainable delivery.
DPD UK is the leader in the transition to sustainability and emobilty. DPD’s Vision 30 will deliver zero emissions to 30 towns and cities, servicing 25% of the UK population and over 100 million parcels by the end of 2023.
Our all-electric fleet is rapidly expanding, in January 2020 we had 149 electric vehicles, in January 2023 we have 3,000 and will have 4,000 by the end of the year. As well as electrifying and decarbonising our final mile delivery fleet we continue to transition our linehaul fleet to HVO, reducing our emissions in the area by 90%, as well as using bio-CNG and alternative fuels to achieve our net zero ambition.
Our sustainability mission goes further, and includes our depots, hubs and offices, all powered by 100% renewable electricity. 100% of waste avoids landfill, of which over 80% is either reused or recycled.
In 2020, we launched our highly innovative Eco Fund, supporting community and school environmental projects. Eco Fund is financed by DPD's circular economy initiatives in recycling waste, plastic and wood.
