Why EMEX / why the advisory board?
EMEX stands out because it has, for over a decade, brought together strategy, technology, and delivery in a way that feels practical rather than theoretical. At a time when the net zero and energy management sector is changing fast, that role feels more important than ever. That matters to me because I come from a multidisciplinary background across architectural design, environmental engineering, sustainability consultancy, and client-side ESG advisory, and I have seen first-hand how important it is to connect ambition with implementation. Being part of the advisory board is a chance to help keep the event relevant, useful, and closely connected to the challenges practitioners are dealing with every day.
How can EMEX shape the future of the sector?
EMEX can help shape the future of the sector by creating space for practical exchange across disciplines. When people from energy, buildings, sustainability, and investment come together to share lessons, solutions, and market insight, progress becomes faster and more grounded in reality. The most valuable events do not just showcase innovation, they help people apply it in ways that maximise positive impact and lead to better commercial decisions.
Myth to bust
A net zero or sustainability target is not the same as real progress. Targets are important, but credibility comes from delivery: better buildings, better decisions, stronger data, and consistent follow-through. The industry needs to keep more attention on outcomes, not just commitments.
