Dr Mike Pedley
Mike led Welsh Water’s energy strategy from 2010 until very recently, including energy purchasing, optimisation, generation and carbon reporting. Welsh Water, a not-for-profit water utility, are one of Wales’ largest energy users with around 4100 sites and a 450GWh demand and also a growing energy generator. Mike has promoted and overseen the expansion of their renewable generation from 2% of consumption in 2010 to over 20% sourced from a mix of hydro, anaerobic digestion, wind, solar PV and a biogas-to-grid plant. Mike also has a commercial background, including acquisitions of renewable energy assets, as well as environmental and technical experience.
