Darragh’s professional career has focused on building performance analysis, utilising both building simulation tools and real building data. Darragh’s interest in building simulation began during his degree in Building Services Engineering with Dublin Institute of Technology. His dissertation on “Using Simulation in the Design of Energy Efficient Buildings” won the 2008 CIBSE Ireland President’s award and led to an internship with IES in their Dublin office. Following completion of his degree, Darragh began full time work for IES in Dublin, involved mainly in research projects relating to Climate Analysis and Building Rating Systems. In 2010, Darragh moved to IES’ Glasgow office to begin project work on behalf of clients and provide technical support to users of the IESVE software. In 2015, Darragh was awarded an MSc in Energy and Sustainable Building Design by De Montfort University. Over the last 3 years, Darragh has been part of the IES Ci2 team, analysing recorded data from building systems to identify opportunities for energy savings.
