Christine St John Cox

Head of Sites, Energy Systems Catapult

Biography:

Chris is a chartered mechanical building services engineer with over 20 years’ experience in the energy sector, initially as a design engineer and more recently supporting organisation decarbonisation strategies.  Chris leads the Net Zero Sites team at Energy Systems Catapult, harnessing cross-sector learning and innovative thinking to make non-domestic Net Zero buildings and estates simpler for all.

Between 2019-21 Chris led the award-winning Modern Energy Partners programme, delivered in partnership with BEIS and the Cabinet Office. It focused on accelerating decarbonisation across the public sector, testing a systematic approach for the development of decarbonisation plans, the rapid deployment of submetering, and the implementation of the first steps of decarbonisation on a cohort of 42 sites across Ministry of Defence, Health, Ministry of Justice, Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs, and Higher Education institutions. This real-world learning is the basis for the new Public Sector Decarbonisation Guidance launched in March 2023. Backed by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and the Cabinet Office, and delivered by Energy Systems Catapult, the Guidance is a framework of new templates, free tools and guides that will make it quicker, cheaper and easier to decarbonise public sector buildings, unlocking sector-wide consistency and cost-efficiency.
