Chris is an Ex-Marine Engineering Officer with Shell Tankers (UK) Ltd, gaining both 1st and 2nd class (motor) Certificates of Competency.
After 12 years, came ashore to a career in Building Services, working at a number of large Banking Institutions, Dept for Work & Pensions, Earls Court & Olympia, HMRC and London City Airport.
In 2015 Chris joined ExCeL, managing the Engineering Department through major exhibitions & events including the 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games, Sports Personality of the Year, The Boat Show, The Motor Show, Grand Designs and many more.
As Energy Manager he was also instrumental in ExCel being awarded a Diamond Award for carbon reduction in the Mayor’s Green 500 (2010) and a Gold Award in the Mayor’s Business Carbon Reduction Programme (2014). As part of ExCel’s commitment to Sustainability and Carbon Reduction we also achieved ISO14001. Major energy reduction projects included boulevard, exhibition hall & car park LED lighting.
In 2015, Chris joined London South Bank University (LSBU) where he is responsible for managing the maintenance contracts whilst ensuring that the University achieves its HEFCE carbon reduction target of 35% by 2020. This has been achieved by sound energy management via BMS and time controls, and implementing LED lighting projects as building/classrooms/offices are renovated. LSBU’s 2020 carbon reduction target has now been revised to 50% (absolute and intensity) at the end of 2017/18 academic year, our carbon reduction was 47% earning LSBU a top ten award for the Brite Green University Carbon Reduction.
