What’s the one shift coming to the energy landscape that you think most people are still underestimating?

Energy efficiency — unbelievably — is still massively underestimated across a wide range of sectors. We talk a lot about new generation, flexibility and storage, but often overlook the fact that the cleanest, cheapest and most secure kWh is the one we don’t use. Efficiency delivers immediate carbon, cost and resilience benefits, yet it’s still treated as incremental rather than strategic. Until it’s embedded as a first principle in decision‑making, we’ll keep solving harder problems than necessary.

Why do you think emex is a valuable event and why is it important to you to be a part of the advisory board?

EMEX is a valuable event because it acts as a true bridge within the energy and sustainability ecosystem. It brings together all the key stakeholders who need to collaborate to drive change — from energy and asset managers, to sustainability and finance leaders — and increasingly connects them with the technological solutions that make delivery possible.

Being part of the Advisory Board is important to me because I strongly believe in this role of EMEX as a convenor and catalyst for collaboration. I am proud to contribute to shaping an event that encourages different disciplines to join forces, break silos, and focus on practical, scalable outcomes.

I also hope to add value through my own experience, which spans both consultancy and time working within the contractor environment. Having worked across a wide range of industries, in both the public and private sectors, I have seen first‑hand the challenges of turning strategy into delivery. My aim is to bring this perspective to the Advisory Board and help ensure EMEX remains highly relevant, practical, and impactful for the industry.
