The corrugated packaging giant has targeted “at least net zero” emissions by 2050, and increased their 2030 target to a 55% intensity reduction in CO2 emissions.
Smurfit Kappa increased intermediate 2030 CO2 reduction target by 15% points to reach 55%, in comparison to the 2005 baseline, having already reduced its relative CO2 emissions by almost a third between 2005 and 2019. At the start of the year, Smurfit Kappa introduced ambitious new targets in new areas, as well as updating its existing set of sustainability targets, with the announcement of its Better Planet 2050 commitment.
