Islington Council’s Groundbreaking Heat Network Project
Theatre : Renewables, Supply and Storage
The Islington Council launched its first heat network in 2012. Since then the Council has been exploring ways to grow the network and reach more residents with their heat networks. In 2015 Islington started working on a first-of-its-kind project that will take low grade heat from a vent shaft of London’s Underground network and will use it for supplying affordable heat to more than 1,500 homes. This presentation will explain how the new energy centre is operating and will share some of the lessons learnt from the project.
