Since 2018, Lloyds Banking Group (LBG) in partnership with Wates, hosted a public call for Sustainability innovators to pitch their products, offering an opportunity to be included in the Wates Innovation Network (WIN) portal and to be piloted on the LBG estate. The goal is to help identify meaningful innovations which can assist LBG in meeting their ambitious operational sustainability targets, while also providing a platform for British SME’s to boost their visibility and market reach. Initially focusing on MEP solutions, the call has since been extended to include aspects such as water, waste, transport, biodiversity, embodied carbon, and the circular economy.

Since 2018, the call has resulted in hundreds of applications, with a total 26 companies presenting their solutions at an annual ‘Dragons Den’ style event in London, and 13 innovations being piloted on the LBG estate. This panel session will focus on some of the key learnings from the process to date, including the challenges of identifying, piloting and embedding innovations across a large property portfolio.
