Biography

Paul is an Energy & Sustainability Director with over 16 years of international experience including; energy & carbon management, corporate sustainability, risk management, financing, supply chain, smart systems, telecommunications, digital services/IOT, and senior operational management.

He has a broad sector background from working in manufacturing with Kodak, telecoms and digital services/IOT with O2 and Telefonica, and now financial services with Lloyds Banking Group. A chartered Mechanical Engineer by background he has delivered a number of high value programmes including Telefonica’s winning Communications Service Provider bid for the UK’s Smart Metering programme, worth £1.5bn, and was an integral part of the O2 team that delivered the smarter and agile workspace project as part of O2’s £40m sustainable HQ in Slough. Paul also enjoyed a period as Head of Development & Planning at O2 working with the board and COO to shape strategy and operating model for the £1bn/yr operations department.

Working in both senior sustainability and operational roles Paul combines subject matter expertise with a broad business knowledge enabling him to shape and build strategies and then see them through to successful execution. He created and delivered O2’s energy and carbon strategy underpinning the award winning Think Big sustainability program and is currently leading the energy & sustainability programme for Lloyds Banking Group, delivering savings of over £8m per annum and embedding energy & sustainability into business processes. Paul’s work at Lloyds Bank won him the inaugural ACRE365 Environmental award in 2015.

With a background that covers agile working, technology, digital and smart services Paul is particularly interested in the Internet of Things (IOT) and the role this plays in Corporate Real Estate and Sustainability strategy going forward.

Paul is also a founding director of the Energy Managers Association. Invited by Lord Redesdale, Paul joined the EMA whose purpose is to promote and raise awareness of the energy profession, pushing the agenda up to board level and supporting energy professionals in their career.
