Biography

Between 2009 to 2015, Dave headed up the npower Real Estate, Sustainability and Capital Investment teams, responsible for energy, waste, carbon, building maintenance, budgets and UK legal compliance. Then in January 2015, he moved into the Innovation & Change team of npower Business Solutions (nBS). As part of his role within Real Estate, Dave was responsible for the introduction of SKA assessments for all building projects, the RICS sponsored energy and environmental fitout standard. Part of his legacy within npower is that ALL building projects are designed to SKA Gold standard and npower has the honour of having the first, the most (within an individual company) and the highest scoring SKA Gold assessment. In addition to introducing site Environmental and Energy Champions in 2010, his many energy efficiency projects, adoption of ISO 500001 and the introduction of an award winning employee awareness campaign. Dave can also list the following among his achievements within npower: • Saving over £6.46 million pounds in energy bills • Reducing energy usage by over 52% to 28.9GWh p.a. • Reducing energy spend by over 44% p.a. • Reducing carbon emissions by 53% p.a. • Increasing recycling from 40% to over 82% (1,578 tonnes p.a.) The Energy Managers Association recognised Dave’s contribution to energy management by voting him their Energy Manager of the Year in December 2015.
