These prestigious awards are run by the IPSEM (Institute of Public Sector Estates Management) and have been acknowledging great achievements in the public sector for the past three years.
A positive change in our behaviour and knowledge of energy efficiency today supports our future. Sustainability is key in ensuring that our resources remain intact for longer. The government’s Carbon Plan states that if the UK is to cut its greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by 2050, all sectors have to be more energy efficient. The PSS Awards promote sustainability as a real issue in the public sector and the shortlisted and winning organisations set impressive benchmarks and examples for their peers each year.
The awards will include Most Sustainable Public Sector Organisations, Most Sustainable Public Sector Projects and Sustainability Manager of the Year. Each of the awards marks an impressive and important achievement, in contribution to lowering the carbon emissions of the public sector.
Lord Redesdale, CEO of the EMA and co-founder of EMEX said, “The quality and number of entries reflect the enormous amount of work and dedication in the public sector to reduce energy use.”
IPSEM is the only professional institute for practitioners working solely within the public services (in the widest sense of that term) who have a facilities and/or estates management element in their job role. It seeks to raise the standards of professional practice of those working in the sector and to provide information and networking opportunities. www.ipsem.org.uk
